The Personal Voice

Music has always been a magical word for me. It has the power to transform everything that comes on its way. It has been part of my life since a very young age and it was obvious for me to write on how music impacts on the society. Even though, people think that music never has an impact on their life, they will be surprised to realize that it does since their birth. You will surely not remember it, as you were a baby but I am sure your parents’ used lullabies to make you sleep at night. If it is the case, then music already had an impact on your life too.  This is why I think that talking about how music has an impact on the society is interesting, as unconsciously people are affected either positively or negatively by the type of music they listen too.

I remember when I was about 10 years old, I was listening to the S club 7 and music was seen just as a mere distraction. Then, college time arrives and I found myself shifting from pop music to alternative rock. It was the time where posters of the S club 7 were replaced by those of Linkin Park and Green Day. It was my gothic style period where the music I was listening to, was gradually shaping my personality.  I was rebellious and always putting my speakers at the maximum volume in my room. I think at that time, my interpretation of rock music simply had a negative impact on how I was evolving and interacting with my environment.

Several years later, I become a young adult and the alternative rock switches to slow rock. I started to learn that different types of music fit different situations. For example, when I want to be productive, I listen to Enya’s music which acts as a therapeutic music for my brain. It provides the necessary inspiration to enjoy and see life in a positive way. Therefore, my method to get rid of stress is by listening to inspiring music. My experience is the impact of music on one individual on earth and I know there are people who are unconsciously influenced either positively or negatively by music. Thus, I think it is important to understand how music impact on our life as what affect our life will definitely have an impact on the society.
